Mountain bike skills coaching in the Forest of Dean and Surrey Hills. Whether you’re hitting the trails for the first time, your progression has halted or you want to win races. We have private and group MTB skills coaching sessions for all.

Skills Coaching

Our sessions focus on improving safety, speed and efficiency, as these are essential for having fun and high performance when mountain biking. Our coaches will help you break down the skill, session sections and use video analysis to help you understand and progress during and after the session. Challenging riders through small steps and focusing on fun to help them acheive and exceed their riding goals.

All delivered on the trails of the Forest of Dean and Surrey Hills from blue to black runs, depending on rider ability.

Some our most popular coaching requests are;

  • Balance and positioning

    – Learning how to position yourself correctly on the bike over a variety of terrain and technical features ensuring you are efficient, stable and balanced

  • Braking

    – Learn how to use your front and rear brake when riding a steep trails and technical terrain, optimise braking zones to give you more control (and speed) on the bike. 

  • Jumping

    – Become controlled and confident in the air, learning the skills and techniques of how to ride a variety of jumps on different trails.

  • Pumping

    – Improve your movement and timing for weighting and unweighting your bike on the trial, unlocking extra grip, control and speed without needing to pedal.

  • Hops

    – We’ll develop skills to be able to lift the front and rear wheel off the ground. This can be used on the trail to pop the bike into the air and clear trail features.

  • Drops

    – We’ll explore how to perform different drop techniques depending on the trail scenario, from pump down small to steps, to launching off them to help you tackle them with confidence.

  • Starts

    – Perfect your race start, giving you the advantage for any race situation. Learn how to get off the line in a fast and controlled manner, essential for beating your mates or winning races.

  • Racing

    – Put all the pieces together to optimise flow, improving speed and enjoyment. Focusing on line optimisation and race tactics to give you the edge over the competition.

  • Bespoke to the riders needs
  • Video analysis and feedback
  • Can be shared by up to 2 riders with similar abilities and goals
  • Race simulation

  • Monthly group session for XC riders looking to level up
  • 3 hour session
  • Develop skills and fitness
  • Maximum of 6 riders
  • A and B sessions designed for riders of different abilities
  • Race simulation
